Donating to charity from my sales

Since the majority of my inspiration comes from time spent outdoors walking in nature and exploring the hills and coastlines, I do my best to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Living sustainably is a work in progress for me, and I’m constantly learning.
I recycle and reuse where I can
I buy refillable bottles where possible – otherwise, I buy in bulk to reduce packaging
I aim to buy from companies that are environmentally conscious
I save packaging from deliveries to repurpose when I post something (including my art)
I try my best to buy food that’s in season
I use natural cleaning products as much as possible
I’m certainly not perfect, but I make little changes and improvements to the way I live as and when I can. And I think if we all do our bit, changing things here and there, we really can make a difference, as lots of people making small changes adds up.
With all that in mind, I’ve also decided to donate 5% of the price of every painting I sell to the charity Friends of the Earth. On the Friends of the Earth website, they say:
We are committed to:
- a peaceful and sustainable world based on societies living in harmony with nature
- each generation enjoying an environment that’s getting better; a safer climate, abundant nature, healthy air, water and food
- a growing and diverse network of people coming together to transform our environment into one which is flourishing, sustainable, and socially just
That really resonates with me and it’s a message I’m so happy to support. By donating from each painting sold, I’m contributing at least a little to the protection and conservation of the places I love so much.
And that means not only is my art bringing people joy when they hang it in their home, but it’s doing a little bit of good in the world too.
